General Casino Rules

This section focuses on how to act when you are playing at a live casino. It is not much of a problem if you are gambling online, but you will still need to abide by some self-control basics that are covered in some other section.

Let’s glance at what etiquettes you need to be considering while being a respectful gambler.

1. Electronics

Phones are a major part of our lives. You are expected to be carefree and phone-free in a casino while you are enjoying your favorite games. You are not allowed to use your phone when you are seated at a table. Do not pull it out as you are not allowed to put it even on the table itself.

If you are worried about a text or a call, turn the volume up. There are fewer distractions and waiting time between hands because everyone is focusing on the game and no one is on their phones. You can also step away if you need to take a call or text someone. No one likes it when a player is staying on a call and playing hands at the same time.

Casinos are immensely loud so if you need to call someone, go find a quiet place to have a conversation. The dealer will be fine and will watch the chips for you and no one is inclined to hear a personal conversation.

2. Know the Rules of the Game

There might be many of you that understand the rule s of the games already, but it does not mean that you don’t need to sit down and read some of the basics. We have a full section on strategy for casino games if you are reading this section. For a brush-up of some of the skills explained in that section here is the link to it:

The dealers are fine with you asking them one or two questions but they do not answer your every question. The friendly players will offer you some assistance because they are trying to gamble as well.  However, it would be better if you watched a few hands of any table game first before you were down to play it. This way you can catch up on the basic rules and can ask questions between the hands. When you are finally ready to sit down and play, this will create a much better atmosphere. 3. Sitting Mid-Shoe in Blackjack

If you are playing blackjack in a live casino, there are chances that you will be playing at a table that contains 6 or 8 decks of cards in each shoe before they are shuffled. Many players are not aware of how the counting is cards are done. If someone sits at the table during a play, these folks frustrate. Hence, it is a good idea to sit on a different empty table or a table where the cards are shuffling. Or else, you should ask the players if it is alright for you to sit down. You will get a positive response in such a situation. You can also wait until the shoe is complete to ask the player if you can sit down.

4. Talking About Other’s Strategy

Talking About Other’s Strategy

Despite the table being open to multiple players, casino gambling is not a team game. Every player uses his/her strategy to beat the house odds. If we are talking about the basics of casino gambling, one thing which you should never be doing is to not speak about the players’ hands during the play. To comment on how people should play and not play is very uncool. If a player is losing get ready for some strong words heading your way if you comment on his hand. This is one of the Casino Etiquette: Things to Learn for you.

The best course of action is to leave the table and find another one if you do not like the way someone is laying a game at your table. If the player is playing with a horrible strategy, he will ultimately lose their chips soon enough.

5. Reaching Over People in Roulette

With people sitting around the wheel watching how the game unfolds and what number the Roulette hits, Roulette is a fun, social game to play. There are however instances where there are many more bettors than there are seats at the table. When you are trying to get down bets between the spins, this can cause some unease around the table. If you are a player we suggest you remain calm and patient because chaos is more likely to unsettle when the dealer is just about to spin. The dealer will see everything, from the people around the table to the bets that you place. If you have to wait for an extra few seconds, it is fine as there is no set time for each spin. You can also ask the dealer for a couple of extra seconds so that your tablemates can get their bets in and the dealers will appreciate your patience.

6. Tipping Dealers

Tipping Dealers

As the games are based entirely on probability, the dealer cannot determine or change the outcome of a hand. There are however some unofficial rules about tipping dealers to influence the outcome of a hand. These people deal with drunk and disorderly gamblers and they stand on their feet for hours without getting much in exchange. Hence, to get their attention you can throw them something whenever you win a big hand or when you leave the table. Even if the dealers cannot impact the outcome of your hand, they can try to make your time on the table more enjoyable and worthwhile. This will create a positive impact with the dealer and the bottom line is that it won’t hurt one bit. These are the Casino Etiquette: Things to Learn for you.
